The Indian Railways — which moves 77 million tonnes of goods via containers every year — has decided to increase haulage charges for container train operators by up to 22 per cent with effect from December.
New entry point likely to come up at New Delhi railway station

With the twin objectives of easing rush and facilitating hassle-free boarding at New Delhi station, Railways is actively considering to make an additional entry point to the station for passengers.
Named as Premier Access, passengers will have to pay a fee to avail the facility for entering the platform using a separate gate at the New Delhi station.

Railway Board plans to buy high-speed trains atRs.550 crore a piece

The Indian railways needs at least Rs.10 lakh crore to enhance its safety measures and another Rs.1.25 lakh crore to complete 129 key projects.

These financial hiccups, however, have not stalled the flight of ambition of the railway board, which has prepared a proposal to buy highspeed trains, which can travel up to 200 km per hour, at the cost of 
Rs.550 crore per train.

No discrepancies in recruitment for Group D posts: SWR

South Western Railway (SWR) has termed the allegations about discrepancies in the recruitment of Group-D posts as “factually incorrect”.
A press release said on Wednesday that SWR had been consistently following the rules prescribed by the Ministry of Railways on the recruitment of candidates for Group-D posts and they had not noticed any violation of these instructions.

Cheating with cameras and mobiles  

There were at least seven of them, women allegedly posing as candidates for a medical exam, and equipped with cameras, phones and Bluetooth devices to transmit the questions to accomplices in nearby hotels. These accomplices were to route the images of the questions to “experts” in Patna and Hyderabad, who would send the answers back to the middlemen, who would then dictate these to 20 real candidates at various centres.

At present, photo-id proof was mandatory for all air-conditioned travels and e-tickets. The move is expected to reduce misuse of tickets by travel agents.
