Last Friday, the pilots’ union Cockpit published a declaration of surrender in the current labour dispute with Lufthansa, agreeing to almost all the company’s demands. If the aviation group agrees to sit down with the union on this basis, Cockpit will dispense with further strikes.

In a bid to reduce diesel consumption in trains, the Indian railways have sort to harness solar energy to run their trains. This will prove to be highly cost-effective to the railways by saving upto Rs 1.24 lakh per coach year.


New Delhi: The Railway Board has asked other all the 17 Zonal Railways to follow the system implemented by Western Railway (WR) where a newly installed machine reads the punch-in time of motormen and motor guards at Mumbai Central Running Room i.e. rest room allotted to them.

The Integral Coach Factory on Saturday released the first pictures of the air-conditioned local train being manufactured for Mumbai. The train is expect ed to arrive in the city by October this year. After a series of trials, it will be commissioned into service before March 2016.

The Confederation and all its affiliated organizations shall participate in the nationwide one day strike on 2nd September 2015 as per the call of all Central Trade Unions and independent Federations.


Itarsi: The new Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) panel at Itarsi Railway Station in Madhya Pradesh has started functioning at 14:50 hrs on 21.07.2015. As a result of the functioning of the new RRI, train movement via Itarsi is now becoming normal which was badly disrupted for the last 34 days. However, very few trains will still remain cancelled for next 2 – 3 days due to rake imbalance on account of sudden cancellation of trains. Only 15 trains will be cancelled on 22nd July 2015 and only 11 trains will be cancelled on 23rd July 2015.


Hundreds of passengers were stranded on various railway stations in Gujarat as about a dozen trains were either cancelled, terminated midway or rescheduled due to heavy rains in Mumbai and breaches on the railway tracks between Palgarh and Boisar stations on Tuesday .


Narendra Modi tried to reach out to trade unions on Monday saying labour laws will be modified only after consensus as Bharatiya Janata Partyaffiliate Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh ( BMS) openly opposed any reforms. At the 46th Indian Labour Conference here, Modi said that consensus would be the guiding principle while changing labour laws and the government would continue to consult trade unions.

Central Government employees all over the country massive will go on an indefinite strike from November 23 to protest against the anti-labour policies of the government.

Rejecting the NDA government’s bid to “dangle the carrot” of another committee to look into their demands, a joint platform of about a dozen trade unions, including federations of defence, railways, banks and insurance employees, on Wednesday called for a country-wide general strike on September 2.

Mumbai's suburban railway system is deep in the red. Cumulative losses over the last six years have touched Rs 4,150 crore, and losses for the year 2013-14 alone amounted to Rs 1,112 crore. The situation has sparked fears that the quality of services may be affected if a turnaround does not happen.
The proposed Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed corridor is estimated to cost Rs 98,805 crore, according to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)'s final feasibility report submitted to railways.

WR Installs  Biometric Crew Management system:
Mumbai: The Western Railway on Monday installed a biometric Crew Management System (CMS) as part of its infrastructure, which also includes a breathe-analyser and a web camera, to keep a check on its loco pilots (motormen for long-distance trains), assistant loco pilots and guards. The plan was in the pipeline for a while, but after the recent Churhgate accident, the procedure was speeded up, according to officials.

Delhi div. Rly  plans to issue electronic muffs to Loco Pilots:
New Delhi: To protect railway employees from occupational health hazard of exposure to high decibel sounds during long working hours, the Delhi division of the Northern Railway plans to issue electronic muffs, a device which suppress all very high-level ambient noises to medically prescribed limit.
Central Government is considering to increase the eligibility limit of bonus from 10000 to 21000.

According to media source, the Central is going to give a green signal to the much awaited decision to raise eligibility limit of bonus from Rs.10000 to 21000. And the calculation ceiling also hike from Rs.3,500 to Rs.7,000
