Bengaluru: With an aim to make Bengaluru City railway station disabled-friendly and convenient to the senior citizens, Bengaluru division Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr Anup Dayanand Sadhu with Additional in-charge of Bengaluru division inaugurated the free cart service on July 23.
They also inaugurated the Website of Bengaluru City Railway Station and RailNav, a mobile application for station navigation, during the occasion.
According to the reports the new facility will provide assistance to passengers in getting access to free Ferry Cart Service at the station. The free Ferry Cart Service for the movement of physically challenged persons and senior citizens between the platforms was introduced at City railway station in 2005.
Presently, there are six ferry carts functioning at the station, which has 10 platforms. The passengers who want to avail this service can call the dedicated phone numbers – 9900789789 and 22155393. They can also call the abovementioned numbers to book the service in advance. This service is available between 4.00 am and 23.30 pm.
The South Western Railways (Bengaluru division) launched RailNav, a mobile application for station navigation for the City railway station. Using the application, one can navigate through the important sections/landmarks within the railway station, both category-wise, like catering, emergency services, ticketing, tourist assistance, and platform-wise starting from concourse area or any of the platforms. In this app, a graphic character will guide the user through an animated 3D view to the selected destination.
To download ‘RailNav’ mobile app the user has to go to the home page of Bengaluru City railway station website and click on ‘RailNav’ mobile app on the navigation bar, simultaneously, a dedicated website on the City railway station, www.bengalururailwaystation.com, was also launched on Thursday.
