South Western Railway (SWR) has termed the allegations about discrepancies in the recruitment of Group-D posts as “factually incorrect”.
A press release said on Wednesday that SWR had been consistently following the rules prescribed by the Ministry of Railways on the recruitment of candidates for Group-D posts and they had not noticed any violation of these instructions.
As per Railway Board’s guidelines, candidates up to three times the notified vacancies may be called for physical efficiency test. Thereafter, only candidates to the extent of 20 per cent over and above the notified vacancies were called for document verification. “In these circumstances, there are cases where a person who has qualified in PET may not be called for document verification, if his/her merit position is lower. The provisional panel of selected candidates against the employment notice no. 1/2007 has already been published in March/April-2012 and out of 4,239 candidates shortlisted, appointment has been given to 4,110 candidates. Seventy-one candidates have not turned up to take the appointment and in balance 58 cases, the process of appointment is already on. “As per Railway Board’s instructions, the validity of the panel is two years,” the release said.
Candidates, who were selected against above notification (list available on http://www.swr.indianrailways.gov.in) and so far had not received appointment letter may contact office of the Deputy Chief Personnel Officer (Recruitment), Railway Recruitment Cell, DRM office compound, South Western Railway, Hubli – 580020 (on fax no. 0836-2289602) indicating their roll number to know about latest status of their case.
