First woman Financial Commissioner of Railways dead
Vijayalakshmi Viswanathan, the first woman Financial Commissioner of Indian Railways, died here on Thursday evening after a brief illness. She was 66.
She is survived by her husband B. Viswanathan and a son.
Joining the service in 1967, Ms Viswanthan held various positions in the Railways. She retired from service in November 2005. She was a regular contributor to The Hindu Business Line .
