In case, the refund amount is more than Rs 10,000 the railways will transfer the amount in the customer’s account.


New Delhi: Shortage of lower currency notes emerged after the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes was announced by PM Narendra Modi.

Amid the heavy rush at banks and post-office for the exchange of notes Indian Railways has stopped giving refund for cancellation of tickets in cash and instead issuing ticket deposit receipts (TDR).

In case, the refund amount is more than Rs 10,000 the railways will transfer the amount in the customer’s account.

As part of sweeping steps to battle black money, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes will cease to be legal tender from midnight of Tuesday.
