Bullet train plan picks up speed, rail authority coming soon

No change likely in train fares till next Budget: Rail Board Chairman

Mangalagiri: The Faluknama express just missed out an accident at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Friday morning. At 4 a.m. on Friday morning, when the train left from Vijayawada and reached Mangalagiri, the bogies got delinked from the main engine. When this happened, the train was rather at slow speed as there was a turning. The train was taken 3 kms back to Krishna canal junction for necessary repairs. Later, at 6.42 a.m, the train left for Secunderabad. Due to this incident, Faluknama express is running late by 2.30 hrs from scheduled time.

Sources said the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the elevation ofArunendra Kumar, currently 'interim' railway board chairman and member (mechanical) as full-time chairman and the rail ministry is likely to issue orders on Tuesday.
