Railway engineers led by the Indian Railways Technical Supervisors’ Association (IRTSA) staged a demonstration at Chennai Central seeking removal of anomalies in the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission before finalising the Seventh Pay Commission.

About 800 railwaymen including junior engineers, senior section engineers and their counter parts from ICF participated.
The IRTSA is demanding the inclusion of the accepted recommendations of the previous two Pay Commissions in the terms of reference for the Seventh Pay Commission. It also wants a serving technical member in the Seventh Pay Commission to undertake a detailed study about railway employees. IRTSA president M. Shanmugam said memorandums highlighting their demands would be sent to the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister.
