BENGALURU: The All-India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) organised a protest on Friday against the “retrograde recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission” in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hubballi.

According to a press note from the association, the demand for separate pay scales for loco pilots steering goods, passenger and mail trains was not considered by the commission. “It continues to be a heartburn that the assistant loco pilots continues to be a neglected lot, with their GP remaining at Rs 1,900 with no improvement recommended by the 7th CPC,” the release stated.

Mazdoor Union Protest: Meanwhile, the South Western Railway Mazdoor Union held a half-day protest in front of the Divisional Railway Manager’s office at City Railway Station, also over the CPC’s recommendations. Hundreds of members took part in the protest.

They said the staff had demanded a minimum wage of Rs 26,000, but the commission had recommended just Rs 18,000. Besides this, other perks have also been reduced, said K V Raghavendra, divisional secretary.
