BENGALURU: A Digital Dynamic Queue Management System was inaugurated by the divisional railway manager of Bengaluru railway division, Sanjiv Agarwal at the City Railway Station on Tuesday.

Such a ticketing system is already functional in three Mysuru, Shivamogga and Davangere railway stations.

Dr Anup Dayanand Sadhu, senior divisional commercial manager, said, “The city railway station has installed the digital dynamic queue management system to cut down the time spent by passengers standing in long queues to book tickets.”

Under the system, all that the customers have to do is to give their reservation requisition slip to the person at the counter which will be fed into a custom-made printer. It will print the serial number (token number) along with date and time on the slip.

With the slip in hand, the customer can wait in the seating area. The token number will be flashed at two locations, one above the counter and on a large screen.

The customers can then approach the assigned counter for booking tickets.

A layout map of the working model of the rail road-cum-rail museum was also inaugurated on the occasion.

Sanjiv Agarwal said, “The museum will have models and replicas of steam locomotives from 1813 to 2000 which will inform the people of the heritage of Indian Railways.

Around six to seven working models will be imported from Germany and other parts of Europe.”

The cost of setting up the museum will be around `3 crore. The amount will be given to the Railways by Sriram Associates as donation.

The working model railroad-cum-rail museum is proposed to be created in a space of 500 sqft. Work on the model museum is expected to be completed in about 8-9 months.
