3 railway staff accused of sexual harassment

VADODARA: The Vadodara railway division of Western Railway (WR) has transferred three supervisors from its engineering section after receiving complaint of sexual harassment against them.

The supervisors have been transferred to Ratlam and Mumbai railway divisions based on recommendations of an inquiry committee, which is probing the complaint. While officials refused to reveal the details of the complaint, they confirmed that the supervisors have been transferred so that they do not influence the ongoing probe.

Sources said that the trio, including Mayur Bhatt, senior section engineer and two junior section engineers Suresh Vyas and Vaibhav Chauhan, were facing allegations of luring female candidates who appeared in railway recruitment exams.

The committee probing the complaint has also seized hard disks of computers of the railway employees in which it has found pornographic material apart from objectionable photographs of some female colleagues.

Sources said that Bhatt has been transferred to Dahod, while Vyas and Chauhan have been transferred to Ratlam and Mumbai railway divisions, respectively

Divisional railway manager of Vadodara railway division Ashutosh Gangal did not confirm the exact nature of the complaint but confirmed their transfer.

"We had received a complaint. As per Supreme Court guidelines and the provisions of 'The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013', a committee is probing the case. The employees have been transferred as part of precautionary measure to avoid any kind of influence," Gangal told TOI.
