Indian Railways Eliminated 2420 Unmanned Level Crossings in Last Two Years
Indian Railways has eliminated 2420 unmanned level crossings at a total cost of Rs. 1,936 crore in last two years i.e. 2012-13 and 2013-14 and 2014-15 (upto June 2014). At the beginning of the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17), there were 13,530 unmanned level crossings.


Modalities for elimination of unmanned level crossings by various methods like manning, provision of RUBs/Subways, merger and closure can be worked out based on availability of funds and cooperation from the State Government.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Manoj Sinha in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
