Loco pilots attack each other

Staff Reporter

The Palani-bound Chennai-Palani Express train was delayed for 40 minutes as two locomotive pilots attacked each other on the running train near here on Friday.
When the express train reached Dindigul station at 5.30 p.m., loco pilot Muthu Kumar (55) of Madurai and his assistant Nagalingam (37) took charge and operated the train towards Palani.
When Muthu Kumar did not stop the train at Oddanchatram railway station owing to a signal failure, Nagalingam reportedly questioned his action.
At one stage both attacked each other on the running train.
Later, they stopped the train at Chatrapatti railway station.
The matter was brought to the knowledge of the railway station managers in Palani and Dindigul.
They advised the loco pilots to operate the train till Palani station.
The train had reached the station at 8.20 a.m., 40 minutes behind the scheduled arrival time of 7.40 a.m.
The railway station officials said complaints were lodged against both with Divisional Railway Manager A.K. Rastogi for departmental action.
