Two railway employees of Madurai Division get to 2 years in jail for demanding bribe
Madurai (MDU): A CBI special court in
Madurai on Tuesday sentenced two railway employees to two years simple
imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each of them for
demanding a bribe from a man who had applied for a job in the railways
under compassionate ground.
The railway employees, Jayasekar (50)
and Jayaraman (47), demanded Rs.13,000 as a bribe from Dhanasekaran to
send the related documents to the concerned section. Dhanasekaran had
applied for the job after the death of his brother, Pakkirisamy, who was
working with the Southern Railway in Trichy.
Dhanasekaran took the matter to CBI’s
anti-corruption wing. As advised by the anti-corruption wing sleuths, he
gave Rs.13,000 to the duo. Jayasekar and Jayaraman were caught
red-handed while they accepted the money from him on January 6, 2010.
