The fate of Northen Railway Men’s Union (NRMU) and Uttar Railway
Mazdoor Union (URMU) has been packed in ballot boxes. On the final day
of voting, today, the percentage of votes cast remained the maximum with
officials saying about 90 per cent of the votes had been polled.
As per the information available, at the Railway Institute booth,
801 votes out of 842 were polled and at other booth in the ADEN office,
762 votes out of 830 were polled.
Secretary, Thakur Singh,
thanked the railway employees and said they had voted for work and
development. The result would now be declared on May 2.
A senior
railway official said the polling process by and large remained peaceful
as no untoward incident was reported. To avoid any wrongful activity,
the presiding officer of the Ambala division, Pramod Kumar, passed
orders to seal the office of the NRMU for the three days during which
the votes were to be cast.
