The Narendra Modi government may scrap the practice of presenting a separate Railway Budget that has been going on since the days of the British Raj, according to The Times of India. A panel headed by Niti Aayog member Bibek Debroy recommended that the integration of the Railway Budget with the General Budget, the report added.

Minister for Railways hosted a French delegation of Parliamentarians, senior officials of SNCF and representatives of the French industry on 3.6.2016 in Rail Bhawan. The Chairman Railway Board and other Members of the Railway Board were present during the meeting. The discussions covered the existing cooperation areas with the French Railways in Speed Raising and Station Development and other potential projects. It was discussed that the French expertise in High Speed, Speed Raising and Station Development would be useful for Indian Railways.
