Railways Actively Examining the Recommendations of High Level Safety Review Committee The Railway Board is currently actively examining the recommendations of the High Level Safety Review Committee (Kakodkar Committee) in regard to their feasibility and implementation. Full Railway Board meetings with the Safety Directorate were held on 4th and 5th of this week and are now scheduled to be held on Monday i.e. 9th June, 2014. It is expected that the detailed examination of these recommendations will be completed within this month.
NEW DELHI  A multi-disciplinary criminal investigation led by CBI has estimated around Rs 4,000 crore loss to the railways in the iron ore transportation scam, in which several companies moved iron ore for exports by paying subsidized rate meant for domestic movement.

The Railway Board has decided that if railway workers like motorman, loco-pilots etc. directly involved in the running of trains are found to have blood alcohol content above the permissible limit, they will be terminated with immediate effect.

Mangalore: Newly crowned union minister for railways and former Karnataka chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda has dismayed the country's citizens after he announced that the railway fares were to be hiked claiming that it was inevitable to raise the fares.
