14 Railway Projects in State on Chopping Block

NEW DELHI/BENGALURU: The Railway Ministry plans to shelve projects
worth over Rs 10,000 crore in Karnataka as part of a larger move to
freeze non-starter schemes across the country.
Altogther 160 such projects, including 47 in the four southern states worth nearly Rs 41,000 crore, will be affected. A majority of these were sanctioned when Lalu Yadav and Mamata Banerjee were railway ministers.

As part of efforts to translate into reality the ambitious vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to start bullet trains in India, the Railway Ministry has commissioned a study on a high speed railway line between New Delhi and Chennai, to be conducted by China's High Speed Rail company. Railway Board last week issued an order to conduct a feasibility study on a high speed Rail line between New Delhi and Chennai to the China Rail High speed (CRH). |
