‘Release matching grants for railway projects’
The former Chief Minister and KJP chief B.S. Yeddyurappa
has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to deposit at least Rs. 1,000
crore in the account of the Railway Ministry for speeding up railway
projects in the State.
Addressing presspersons here
on Sunday, he said that it was he, as Chief Minister, who first
initiated the idea of giving matching grants to the Railway Ministry for
taking up railway projects in the State. “My efforts were appreciated
at the national level. Karnataka was the first State to offer such funds
for railway projects,” he said.
Mr. Yeddyurappa
criticised the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government for allocating a
meagre Rs. 30 crore for railway projects in the State.
Even Railway Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge disapproved of the Congress government for not granting adequate funds, he said.
