Pramod Kumar takes additional charge of GM, western railway
MUMBAI: Pramod Kumar, director general of the National Academy of Indian Railways at Vadodara, has taken over the additional charge of general manager of Western Railway.
Kumar is a senior officer of Indian Railway Services of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME) 1976 batch, securing 1st position in All India UPSC Exam in 1976. He graduated in mechanical engineering from IIT-Roorkee and also holds post graduate diploma in business management and finance management. A recipient of Udyog Rattan Award, he has rich and varied experience of working on several key posts in the Ministry of Railways as well as the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
He has worked as additional general manager, South Eastern Railway, Kolkata; divisional railway manager, Nadiad, South Central Railway; chief workshop manager, Raipur, South East Central Railway, said a WR spokesperson.
During his tenure as additional general manager, South Eastern Railway, Kolkata there was a reduction of 42% in passenger complaints as several innovative steps were taken to enhance passenger satisfaction. As Divisional Railway Manager of Nanded Division, he was instrumental in eliminating record number of 41 level crossings by providing road over bridges/road under bridges for enhanced safety.
