China begins Work on High-speed Railway

Beijing, Oct 28 (IANS): China has begun work on a high-speed railway linking two major economic hubs in the country to boost growth.
The 643 km line will link Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, with Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province. Over 40 billion yuan (about $6 billion) will be spent.

CHENNAI: A flash strike by a section of railway employees in the city, for more than an hour on Friday affected railway operations and stranded passengers. Members of the Southern Railway Mazdoor Union (SRMU) stayed away from the ticket counters in protest against the railways' decision to pay their bonus directly into their bank accounts. The union had demanded a direct cash payment.

NPS : Cabinet approves amendmended PFRDA Bill with option of Minimum Assured Return

The union cabinet today approved the introduction of certain official amendments to the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) Bill, 2011 that allows the subscriber seeking minimum assured returns to opt for investing his funds in such schemes providing minimum assured returns as may be notified by the Authority.
