The engine which was brought back to Wadi station
KALABURAGI:A railway engine moved over 6 km without a loco pilot at from Wadi Railway Station (Junction) upto Konchur on Wednesday evening.
The Chennai-Mumbai electric train arrived at Wadi around 3.40 pm on Wednesday and was parked at Wadi Railway station to attach diesel engine to it as the route from Kalaburagi to Wadi is not electrified. As the latch which held the engine slipped, the engine started to move towards Nalwar route.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahesh Meghannavar said that as the railway track on which the engine moved was free from railway movement at that time, and hence no untoward incident occurred. The railway staff chased the engine for 6 km and succeeded in stopping it near Konchur in half-an-hour.
