“Responsibilities of railway officers and employees have gone up”
With the Prime Minister’s Office monitoring the
punctuality of running of trains on a daily basis, the responsibility of
railway officers and men in maintaining the systems to ensure higher
reliability has gone up, Southern Railway Chief Signal and
Telecommunications Engineer, A.V. Sivaprasad, said.
Giving
away awards to 160 staff from his department from Tiruchi,
Thiruvananthapuram and Madurai railway divisions, here on Tuesday, he
said improved reliability on signal and telecommunication equipment
would improve speed and safety of trains.
Divisional
Railway Manager Sunil Kumar Garg said unmanned and manned level
crossings were potential areas for accidents. He said replacement of
those level crossings with sub-ways or road over bridges would ensure
safety of running trains.
He said that the role of
signal and telecommunications officers and employees was significant in
maintenance of sophisticated equipment and also in installation of those
equipment in the on-going work of track doubling between Tiruchi and
Dindigul railway sations.
Additional Divsional
Railway Manager, R.V.B. Babu felicitated the awardees. Among those who
were present are Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunications
Engineer, L.N.Sivanath Babu (Madurai), A. Kalyan Kumar, Prema Chandra
Harijan (Thiruvananthapuram) and Divisional Signal and
Telecommunications Engineer, Madurai, A.Janardhanan.
