Shri R. K. Gupta has taken over as General Manager, Eastern Railway o­n 20thMarch 2014.
          Born in January 1956, Shri Gupta graduated in Civil Engineering from erstwhile University of Roorkee (now IIT, Roorkee) and holds Masters Diploma in Public Administration.He is a Fellow from Institution of Engineers (India), Institute of Engineering & Technology (UK), Institution of Permanent Way Engineers (India) and Member of AIMA.

          An Officer of 1977-batch of Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE), Shri Gupta has worked in various important posts in different parts of the country.Before his posting as General Manager, Eastern Railway, he has worked as Managing Director of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL).He also held various key positions o­n Indian Railways such as, Divisional Railway Manager, Principal Chief Engineer and Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) apart from working as Executive Director in the Ministry of Railways.He headed as Chief Administrative Officer in India’s prestigious and challenging New Line Rail Project in the State of Jammu & Kashmir which is considered to be o­ne of the most difficult projects in terms of logistics and terrain in the world and majority of the alignment passes through long tunnels and very tall and long bridges.
          Shri Gupta has published several technical papers in various magazines and made presentations in various national and international conferences.He was trained in India and abroad in various fields and visited many countries in this connection.He was conferred with ‘Eminent Engineer’s Award’ by Institution of Engineers in 2013.
