The SHO of the Government Railway Police Force, Brijpal, who was yesterday caught in camera slapping at least 15 persons for trying to cross the Yamuna using a railway bridge, was today placed under suspension by the authorities of the GRPF.
A departmental probe was also ordered against the SHO, who was asked to report at the police lines.
Speaking to The Tribune, GRPF (Haryana) Superintendent of Police Y Puran Kumar said in view of the gravity of the situation, the action was taken against the SHO. He said that the manner in which Brijpal tried to thwart the individuals from crossing the railway bridge was uncalled for.
The SHO was caught in camera slapping more than 15 persons who tried to cross the railway bridge, including children and grown-ups.
The action against the SHO was taken after The Tribune highlighted the matter in these columns. The slapping incident had generated wide spread resentment amongst the locals.
