Rail employees demand more bonus
ALLAHABAD: The railway employees have been misguided on payment of bonus, said national president of Loktrantik Samajwadi Party Raghu Thakur while presiding at a meeting of Rail Sewak Sangh outside the DRM office here on Tuesday. He also raised several issues pertaining to the welfare of the railway employees.
Thakur said while the railways had announced that bonus would be made on 77 days of salary, the payment was made on the basis of ceiling of last year's salary. He said that in corporate sector, bonus of Rs 3000 crore was paid to the three lakh employees, but in railways Rs 1060 crore was paid as bonus to about 13 lakh employees.
He demanded a separate wage board for railway employees alleging that the pay commission has not done justice with them. There are different types of works being done by railway employees spread over diverse categories which generally are ignored by the pay commission, he said.
He added that unemployment is increasing in the families of railway employees as their children do not get adequate opportunities for proper education. Thakur demanded that one child of every railway employees should be given a job and arrangements be made for free education to children of group C and Group D railway employees in government and private educational institutions.
