CHENNAI Jan 03 :
feedback@expressbuzz.com
Passengers of a suburban train in the Gummidipoondi- Chennai section had a narrow escape after the train, stationed in the loop line at Ponneri station, started moving to the main line, even as the Lucknow-Chennai biweekly Express (6031) was fast approaching the station on the main line.
The passengers on the suburban train, however, managed to pull the chain a few metres away from the main line, thus averting a major accident.
Chief Public Relations Officer V J Accamma confirmed the incident. She told Express that the motorman of the suburban train was suspended.
According to railway sources, the guard of the train was also placed under suspension.
Passengers who were travelling in the suburban train lodged a complaint with the Ponneri Station Master.
The Station Master reportedly said he had not given the signal to the suburban train and it was the driver’s mistake.
