Driver dozes off, train off trackTNN | Updated: Oct 5, 2016,

BHOPAL: It was a lucky escape for hundreds of passengers after the driver of Katni-Chopanpassenger train allegedly fell asleep on Tuesday morning. The train went off track nearBargawa railway station in Singrauli district and stopped only after hitting a pile of mud.

No casualty has been reported in the incident, which led to panic and commotion among the passengers for a while. "The passenger train got derailed after hitting the dead end near Bargawa railway station at around 2.30 am on Tuesday," said official sources.

"Driver of the train has been suspended, and a probe ordered into the incident.Prima facie, it seems that the driver had fallen asleep. However, it could be ascertained only once the investigations are over," Central public relations officer,West Central Railway, Surendra Yadav told TOI.

Passengers, who were mostly asleep at the time of incident, woke up with a jerk and the fear of an untoward incident gripped them even as the train came to a grinding halt.
