Indian Railways Employees likely to get 78-day bonus before the Dussehra festival


Indian Railways employees are likely to be given 78-day wages as a productivity-linked bonus (PLB) for the fiscal 2015-16 just before the Dussehra festival, the same as in the last four years, despite the financial crunch.Every year before the Dussehra festival,Productivity-linked bonus(PLB) is paid to about 12 lakh railway employees.In 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-2014 and 2014-15 also, 78-day wages were given as PLB to railway employees.

M Raghavaiah, National Federation of Indian Railwaymen General Secretary told Press Trust of India that “We have demanded 78-day wages as productivity-linked bonus (PLB) for railway employee this year and expecting the government to declare the same next week.”


M Raghavaiah said The 78-day wage is expected to be around Rs. 18,000 per employee. Cabinet will approve the 78-day bonus for railway employees proposal next week.The bonus it is estimated to cost around Rs. 2000 crore to the railways.


All-India Railwaymen’s Federation General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said the bonus is expected to motivate the employees to improve the financial position of the public transporter. “Since the PLB ceiling has been revised to Rs 7,000 from Rs 3,500, we expect each employee will get double the amount as against the last year’s bonus,” he said to PTI.

Productivity-linked bonus (PLB) covers all non-gazetted railway employees spread over the entire country.
