MYSURU: As part of 61st Railway Week celebrations, Rajkumar Lal, divisional railway manager of Mysuru division, SWR, awarded outstanding employees from 14 different departments for 2015-16 at the DRM's office premise here on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Lal said: "It's because of efforts of the employees that Mysuru division was conferred Overall Efficiency Shield and Individual Efficiency Shields for different departments. They were presented by general manager Saxena during Railway Week Celebrations at Hubballi on April 19. Apart from this, Aizaz Ahmed, assistant operation manager, Gopa Kumar, assistant engineer (engineering department), and 21 employees of our division have been awarded for their meritorious service by the general manager".
Aizaz Ahmed, 55, who has served the railways for nearly 33 years, told TOI: "It's a great honour to get General Manager Award. I dedicate this to my work and higher officials who have recognized the same. The award has made more responsible." Aizaz received Rs 2,500, a medal and a certificate.
During 2016-17, the division proposed the development of Subramanya Road, which includes raising/ extending platforms, improving lighting at 24 stations, providing additional seating arrangements at 25 stations, providing wheel-chairs at stations and the setting up of automatic coach-washing plant in Mysuru.
As many as 141 appointments have been made through RRB, RRC, and compassionate grounds, 1,093 employees have been promoted through departmental selection, and 142 employees have been granted financial upgradation. During 2015-16, the overall earnings of the division stood at Rs 600.82 crore, compared to Rs 523.10 crore the previous year (a rise by 14.86%).
As part of the celebrations, cultural programmes, including concerts, were organized.
