A major accident was averted by the loco pilot of a goods train near Penukonda when he noticed the combustible cargo (petrol) the train was carrying to Bengaluru from Mumbai starting leaking from one of its wagons.

The loco pilot of the Bengaluru-bound goods train stopped the train near Penukonda to check the leakage after informing the railway officials. Meanwhile, the local people who got the information, rushed to the spot with buckets and other utensils to take the leaking petrol.

However, they were barred from reaching the site by the police. The railway authorities later plugged the leak.
