Jodhpur: The Jodhpur division of the North Western Railway becomes the first division to have an advanced locomotive simulator. This will prove a milestone in training budding loco-pilots to meet requirements of modern locomotives. , who were lagging behind in absence of the advanced training module till now.
Railway board member Hemant Kumar commissioned the simulator on Monday by inaugurating the HHP Diesel Locomotive Simulator Training Centre. This is the first simulator of 12 such simulators, which are to be commissioned across the country keeping in mind the real-time experience to the under-trainee locomotive drivers. "This is the most advanced simulator matching with the technology and features being adopted in the current locomotives in the country. It is based on the real-time conditions, which a driver has to face during the actual driving of the locomotive on the track," said the DRM Rahul Goyal. TNN
Though there is already a simulator installed in Hubli, it was installed in 2005 and uses obsolete technology. "This simulator will help loco-pilots of NWR in better train hauling, safety, punctuality, fuel saving and loco troubleshooting," Goyal said.
The loco-pilot will get advantage of real experience and get instructions for troubleshooting from the instructor, who will keep a close watch on the working of loco-pilot at the simulator, based on which, a report card of the handling of the locomotive by the trainee pilot will be generated.
Key features of this full loco cab replica of diesel locomotive are its 6 degree motion platform part task simulators, 300 km of computer generated track between Mandvariya and Sojat Road, observer station, centralised instructor station etc.
