Opportunity to demand more trains, end anomalies in timings

Kerala has got an opportunity to demand more trains and end anomalies in the timings as it has been asked to host the Indian Railway Timetable Conference (IRTTC) early next year to finalise the railway timetable for 2016-17.

The mantle to host the IRTTC this year had come to Southern Railway which had in turn asked the Thiruvananthapuram railway division under it to convene it in the State capital.

The crucial three-day IRTTC, to be held here for the first time, has been tentatively scheduled from January 18, railway sources told The Hindu .

Crucial meet

Allahabad was the venue for the 2015 edition of the IRTTC. The conference is crucial as the controllers from the 68 railway divisions and chief controllers of the 17 railway zones put their heads together to finalise the trains to figure in the Railway Budget 2016-17.
