Robbers targeted passengers on three trains and made away with fifty sovereigns of gold, near ‘outer signal’ area, known in official parlance as ‘Gooty Home Signal’, less than a kilometre from the Gooty railway junction. According to officials of the RPF, robbers targeted Nanded Express bound for Bangalore. The robbers boarded the train around 11 p.m. on Thursday night, as it waited for clearance near the signal area. They threw stones at four coaches, while some boarded the train and walked off with gold, threatening passengers with knives. Another train, Rayalaseema Express, arrived there at around 1 a.m. on Friday was attacked as it waited for clearance. A third train, the Bangalore bound Udyaan express, arrived even as the Rayalaseema Express left and stopped at the same spot for clearance. However, this time the robbers were not successful as police were already on the job. However, police were unsuccessful in nabbing the offenders as they fled the spot.
