Union Railway minister Suresh Prabhu said that the ministry was committed to improving the quality of services and adequate measures were being taken for it. In this direction, an agreement was being signed with the UP government to bring about changes in major railway stations of the state.

Speaking at a function in Bareilly on Saturday, Prabhu said that an investment of Rs 4.5 crore would be done at Bareilly junction, Izzatnagar and City Station to upgrade basic facilities like waiting room, toilets, parking and others.

The Rail minister said, “The Union government was not in favor of announcing more schemes and trains, instead a need of improving the rail quality was being stressed on and to reduce rail accidents using Japanese technique. Qualitative improvements were being brought in the Railways.”

Prabhu even hinted that a private-public-partnership module can be taken up for bringing improvements in the Railways and for this the UP government has been consulted. He also informed that on the request of Union ministers, Maneka Gandhi and Santosh Gangwar, the Ramnagar-Agra train will be made daily instead of the present twice a week. He further assured that a train would be started to connect South India with Breilly from January 1 next year.

Earlier, Suresh Prabhu inspected the broad gauge work been done in Pilibhit and accompanied b y BJP MP, Dharmendra Kashyap and senior Railway officials.
