Railmen oppose recommendations
The 7{+t}{+h}Pay Commission Report is a ‘total disappointment’ and the All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) National Executive Committee will meet in Delhi soon to take a decision on holding a nation wide strike by railway and other Central Government employees, according to AIRF assistant general secretary Ch. Gandhi.
The Commission has recommended abolition of 52 different allowances, the pay hike was pegged at 16 per cent as against the demand for 55 per cent and the hike for pensioners was a mere 24 per cent as against the demand for 50 per cent, the promotion under career progression was limited to three as against the demand for five.
Mr. Gandhi said employees would not be eligible for arrears as the Commission has recommended implementation of the report with effect from January 1, 2016 and not January 1, 2014 as demanded by trade unions.
He said that a protest was held outside Parliament in New Delhi on Thursday to oppose the recommendations.
AIRF general secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra led the protest.
