The Western Railway (WR) has cancelled as many as 22 trains, departing from its zonal stations, due to the Harda twin train derailment on the Khandwa-Itarsi section and heavy rainfall in the zones of its Ahmedabad division.
Train no 19047 Surat-Bhagalpur Express and 19051 Valsad-Muzaffarpur Shramik Express have been cancelled for Saturday while train no 19045 Surat-Chhapra Tapti Ganga Express, 22937 Rajkot-Rewa Express and 11453 Ahmedabad-Nagpur Prerana Express have been cancelled for August 9, a WR statement said. Train No 19049 Bandra(T)-Patna Express and 19045 Surat-Chhapra Tapti Ganga Express have been cancelled for August 10.Due to heavy rains in Ahmedabad Division, WR has cancelled six trains- 19151 Palanpur-Gandhidham Express, 19152 Gandhidham-Palanpur Express, 22484 Gandhidham-Jodhpur Express, 59425 Bhuj-Palanpur Passenger, 59426 Palanpur-Bhuj Passenger and 54832 Bhildi-Jodhpur Passenger for today. 19411 Ahmedabad-Ajmer Express has been cancelled till August 10 while 12959 Dadar-Bhuj Express has been partially cancelled today while 22904 Bhuj-Bandra(T) AC Express has partially cancelled today and on August 10.
Meanwhile, Central Railways also cancelled 57 trains for Saturday along all the concerned zonal railways due to the derailment which took place at Khandwa-Itarsi Section. 21 trains have been diverted through different routes, a statement issued by CR said.
On Wednesday, 29 people were killed as two express trains derailed within minutes of each other on flooded tracks while crossing a railway bridge in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh in the dead of night and plunged into the swollen Machak river.
