RAILWAY OFFICERS TO TRAVEL IN 2nd CLASS
Railway officers to travel second class to know passenger woes
Kochi: Top officers of the Indian Railways will travel second class to understand the problems faced by passengers. The officials will receive complaints and suggestions from passengers in a range of topics including the quality of the food when they travel among them from May 26 to June 9.
The divisional offices have received a circular regarding this.
The railway has started receiving complaints from the passengers through social media. The Railway Ministry and the Southern Railway are active on Facebook.
Though readers from Kerala dominate discussions on these pages, railway divisional offices in the state stay away from Facebook or other social media, apparently dreading a flood of complaints about their services in a responsive society such as Kerala.
Malayalis challenge railway’s claims of achievements in other states. The Southern Railway headquarters is a target particularly under attack. The online community was provoked by a recent list of achievements published by the Southern Railway. Its only mention of Kerala was the setting up of an escalator in Kochi.
