The feasibility study for the high-speed train between Mysore-Bangalore-Chennai corridor will commence soon after Dasara, Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said on Monday.

The study will be carried out by the China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group along with IRCON, a public sector undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, Gowda told reporters.

Chinese engineers will help commission the Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore corridor and augment the speed of the train up to 160 km per hour by strengthening the existing tracks and signalling system. Officials from the Indian Railways have visited China to study their high-speed train system.

After the recent successful trial run of the high-speed train from Delhi to Agra, Indian Railways has identified eight other corridors to run similar high-speed trains, including the Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore route.

During Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to India, Railway Board chairman Arunendra Kumar and Administrator of National Railway Administration of China Lu Dengfu signed a MoU on increasing the speed of trains on the Mysore-Bangalore -Mysore route.
