One hundred and fifty goats were mowed down by a train near Kumbakonam in the early hours of Sunday.
Railway sources said the goats were kept in an enclosure on an agriculture field, between Aduthurai and Tiruvidaimarudhur.

After heavy rains on Saturday night, they went out and rested on the rail track, when the Rameswaram-Chennai Express ran over them.
A post-mortem on the carcasses was conducted.
