Lion cub run over by train in Amreli district of Gujarat

May 11, 2014A six months old lion cub was run over by a goods train near Uchaiya village in Amreli district today.
The incident took place at around 5.30 in the morning.
A senior forest official said that it was possible that a four to five lions were crossing the tracks at the time.
This is the third such incident in the area in the last eight months.
In September 2013, a cub was run over by a train in the same area, while two lionesses, one of them pregnant, were run over at a spot near Pipavav port in Amreli district last month.
A report of the incident had been sent to the Pipavav Railway Corporation Ltd, which looks after the 271-km-long railway line connecting the Pipavav port with Surendranagar, the official said.
