Accident Spot Cleared, Train Movement Restored

Railway officials and the district administration here undertook rescue operations and shifted the accident-hit coach of the Bengaluru-Nanded express at Kothacheruvu  to a nearby station to resume the uninterrupted movement of trains over the single track where the tragedy took place on Saturday.

Trains collision averted near Sealdah Station

Two passenger trains came face to face on Thursday at the outer signal of the Sealdah Railway Station in Kolkata, but a collision was averted as both were able to stop, Eastern railway sources said.
The driver of the Sealdah-Lalgola passenger train — which left platform 7 at the station at 8:10 a.m. — overshot the starter signal and entered the down main line at about 8:17 am, Eastern railway CPRO R.N. Mahapatra said.

It has been reported in a section of Media that Shri B.Sanjeeva Rao, o­n-duty Ticket Examiner in Train No.22601 Chennai – Shirdi Express, was beaten to death by some of the passengers as there was no water in the coach.

Dhaka:  The current political turmoil in Bangladesh is likely to delay the execution of a new rail link between India and its neighbour, officials said Wednesday. “At a meeting in Dhaka Tuesday, the Bangladesh railway ministry officials indicated that it was difficult for them to complete the necessary survey and to start the actual work before the Jan 5 general elections,” a top Indian railway official, who did not want to be named, told IANS.
