Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways Invite Suggestions on the Subject ‘Suburban Train Services of Indian Railways, with Particular Emphasis on Security of Women Passengers’

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways,
under the chairmanship of Shri T. R. Baalu, MP,
are examining the subject ‘Suburban Train Services of
Indian Railways, with particular emphasis on security of women passengers’ for
presenting a Report thereon the Parliament. The suburban Train Service is a
very vital service provided by the Indian Railways. The subject involves issues
relating to the nature of suburban services provided, scope of further
improvement of these services, problems faced by the commuters in the Suburban
Trains and passenger security, with special emphasis on women passengers.
Keeping in view the significance of the subject, the Committee have decided to invite written memoranda containing
views/suggestions/comments from interested individuals/ associations/ experts/
professional organizations/ institutions. etc. on the
subject and matters relating thereto.
2. Those desirous of submitting memoranda
to the Committee may send two copies (in English or Hindi) thereof to the Director

within 30 days of the date of the advertisement in National Dailies.
3. The memoranda submitted to the Committee
will form part of the records of the Committee and would be treated as strictly
confidential and would
not be circulated to anyone, as such an act would constitute a breach of
privilege of the Committee.
4. Those who are
desirous of giving oral evidence before the Committee besides sending memoranda
are requested to intimate the same to the Lok Sabha Secretariat for
consideration to the Committee. The decision of the Committee to invite the
persons for appearing before the Committee shall be final.
