Chairman of BJP’s National Committee on Legal Affairs and former city MP Satya Pal Jain today demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should question Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel in connection with railway bribery scam.
While addressing a press conference here, Jain said that in the telephone conversations between accused in the railway bribery scam, which are part of the CBI’s chargesheet, names of Rahul Gandhi and Ahmed Patel had come up on a number of occasions.
“It is not only Rahul Gandhi or Ahmed Patel, but CBI should question all those persons whose names have come up during these conversations,” he stated.
Jain also maintained that these conversations were enough for the CBI to include former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal’s name in the list of accused, but it preferred to include his name in the witnesses’ list.
Jain said the CBI should re-investigate the matter and file a supplementary chargesheet in this case. Jain also raised questions as to why the CBI did not put Bansal’s nephew Vijay Singla’s phone under surveillance.
