Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge rubbished rumours that the
passenger fares would be increased in the month of September.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Kharge said there is no proposal to increase the fares.
Referring to the demands of setting up a Railway Division in Gulbarga, he said: “We have to take parts of Solapur, Secundrabad and Hubli zones. The senior officers are preparing a report on feasibility of establishing separate Railway Division in Gulbarga by bifurcating these three zones. Once the report is submitted, we will take up the work, if it is feasible.”
When asked about laying of the proposed Wadi-Gadag railway line, he said only the line estimate of the project has been prepared.
“Line estimates have been prepared for 22 such projects in the country. Now we have to order the detailed surveys of these projects,” he said.
