Railway ticket check yields Rs 1.22 lakh

MANGALORE: A special ticket checking drive was conducted all over Palakkad Division on Thursday, particularly in Kannur - Kozhikode and Shoranur - Nilambur Road sections. During this check, 353 cases were registered through which an amount of Rs.1.22 lakhs was collected as excess fare and penalty.

The check was conducted by 21 ticket checking staff and nine RPF personnel. Railway authorities of Palakkad Division appealed to the public to ensure that they travel with valid tickets and not invite fine.
