SWR officials violated Railway Board guidelines on recruitment: AITUC
It is in connection with appointment of Group ‘D’ employees
The Dharwad district unit of the All-India Trade Union
Congress (AITUC) has alleged that the railway officials had violated
guidelines while issuing orders on appointment of Group ‘D’ employees in
South Western Railway.
According to Devanand
Jagapur, B.A. Mudhol, N.A. Khaji, A.S. Peerjade, Dadapeer Bepari and
others of the Dharwad district unit of the AITUC, the SWR officials had
blatantly violated the recruitment guidelines and consequently issued
faulty appointment notifications.
In a release issued
here they have alleged that as per the notification no. 02/2007, SWR
had issued subsequent notification on appointment of candidates based on
the medical certificate and the notification was faulty. As per the
Medical Manual (Vol-1) of Railway Board issued in 1999, the candidates
who have to be appointed for helpers’ post in workshop should have
procured C-I medical certificate.
However, the SWR
notice mentions about B-I medical certificate which was against the
regulations of the Railway Board, they said.
They
alleged that the manner in which the appointment orders for 13
candidates as helpers in stores department had been issued showed that
there was corruption in the process of appointment.
The AITUC will question the appointments in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) shortly, the office-bearers said.
The
release said that the SWR officials had issued appointment orders to
candidates with A-II medical certificate in clear violation of the
medical manual of the Railway Board which stipulates appointment of
candidates with C-I medical certificate for the posts of helpers in
stores department.
The AITUC members alleged the SWR
officials had issued appointment orders to six candidates with B-II
medical certificate as helpers again violating the Railway Board
guidelines.
