Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and Minister of State Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy have appreciated the joint efforts being made by the Communist Party of India, Bharatiya Janata Party, Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress Party, Lok Satta Party and others for achieving the long-pending demand for formation of a separate railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters.

Railway Zone Saadhana Samithi leaders J.V. Satyanarayana Murthy and Cheruvu Ramakotaiah (BJP) and others met the Railway Minister in New Delhi recently, under the leadership of Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari, and apprised him of the injustice being done to Waltair Division, which was merged with the East Coast Railway against the wishes of the people.
“They responded very positively to our demands and Mr. Bansal wanted to know whether there was enough land available for the creation of the zone. We told him that about 1,000 acres of railway land was available in the city and there was no need for acquisition of land,” Mr Satyanarayana Murthy said at a media conference.
