New Delhi: Speculations are rife that railway employees are in for a serious salary cut. If the proposal sent in this regard is accepted then railway employees would have to take a hefty paycut.
In the meeting of senior managers held on April 11 and 12 it was proposed that salaries be deducted of railway employees. As per the proposal, "When the report on expenditure was tabled it was found that railways was facing a deficit of Rs 4,304 crore. And to cut back on the deficit, salaries will have to be cut. (Railways pays Rs 1,300 crore on salary, and Rs 855 crores on DA)."
Experts say that had the then railways minister divulged the state of railways to the parliament in the budget speech, he wouldn't have been sacked.
Dinesh Trivedi had been axed after he proposed a hike in railway passenger fares. Had his proposals been accepted railways would've wiped off the deficit and made a handsome profit of Rs 3,500 crores in this financial year itself. And neither would the need for cutting salaries have risen.
It is being speculated that just by cutting back 5% on the salaries railways could lessen its deficit by Rs 2,155 crores. DNA tried contacting railways spokesperson in this regard but to no avail.

And in case if it happens, AIRF will not allow to move trains even an inch. Be assured noobody can dare of cutting the hard earned wages of the Railwaymen.
