Smt. Vijaya Kanth takes over as New Financial Commissioner (Railways).
Smt. Vijaya Kanth has taken over as the new Financial Commissioner (FC) (Railways) and ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India. She assumed her charge on 26/12/2011. Prior to her appointment as FC in Railway Board, Smt. Kanth was General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction) Organization, Guwahati.
A 1975 batch officer from Indian Railway Account Service (IRAS), Smt. Vijaya Kanth is a Post Graduate in Political Science from Madras University and joined Indian Railways on 14/07/1976. She had worked in different capacities in Southern Railway/Open Line and Construction, Konkan Railway and N. F. Railway. She had also worked as Executive Director/Vigilance in Chennai Petroleum Corpn. Ltd., from 24/04/1997 to 23/10/2002. During that period she had initiated lot of system improvement in the Vigilance Organisation there. She also earlier worked as Adviser, Finance in Railway Board.
Smt. Kanth is known for her detailed knowledge of working and meticulous attention to details.
